Today was a special day for hockey as we were visited by HRH The Duchess Of Cambridge at the London 2012 Olympic Park. As an official Team GB ambassador of the London 2012 Olympics, the Duchess was welcomed by both the Men’s and Women’s Team GB players and took the time to show off her hockey skills that made her School 1st Team Captain. Although she hadn’t played for a while, she most certainly had a natural talent for the game and did so well considering all the cameras and pressure!
It is so great to have had the visit; it really has boosted the game of hockey and put us back into the limelight following our Silver Medal in Argentina. Rumours and news report claim that hockey sales soared after which is great for our sport; raising awareness of hockey and getting more people into sport through any means is always a winner in my book. It is also a real privilege and motivation for us as a Team to know we have such a significant figure supporting and being an ambassador for us during the 2012 Olympics – let’s hope we see her regularly in the Olympic Park cheering us on.
