England Hockey have set up “In2Hockey”; a fun, exciting and dynamic game designed for 10 to 14 year olds to help them develop their hockey skills and techniques, and to provide a gradual progression into the 11-a-side version of the game.
To celebrate the launch of In2Hockey, I was asked to pay a visit to Grimsby Hockey Club as an “England Superstar” to encourage the children to give Hockey a go, provide some one to one coaching and help them with motivation to potentially be the future Olympians. As a current player at Leicester Hockey Club, the next door county and born in Lincolnshire it was the ideal location for me to attend Grimsby Hockey Club and I was very grateful to be given such a warm welcome. The day was exceptionally well organised and I got such a buzz out of seeing all the youngsters enjoying the sport – there were definitely some really talent players at such a young age, and improvements in skills by all was noticed just in the few hours that we had.
There was a short speech delivered and then a chance for Q&A; A where some very educated questions were asked, relating to diet, training programmes and culture so I hope that I was able to give everyone involved a short preview of what it is like as a GB international.
